Richmond City Parking Guide
About Richmond
Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States. It is an independent city and not part of any county. Richmond is the center of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Greater Richmond area. Richmond's economy is primarily driven by law, finance, and government, with federal, state, and local governmental agencies, as well as notable legal and banking firms, located in the downtown area.
Richmond has a humid subtropical climate typical of the American South, with hot and humid summers and generally mild winters. The mountains to the west act as a partial barrier to outbreaks of cold, continental air in winter; Arctic air is delayed long enough to be modified, then further warmed as it subsides in its approach to Richmond. The open waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean contribute to the humid summers and mild winters.

Whether driving downtown for business or pleasure, take a moment to plan ahead so you know where to park when you get there. Do you want to locate an on-street parking place? Or do you want the convenience of using a parking lot near your destination?
Metered Parking:
The time permitted at each meter is noted on the meter. The times to park at specific meters may vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Also, there are times of the day, i.e. peak traffic times of 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., where parking is not permitted even though a parking meter may be present at that location.
